The Virginia Literacy Act requires each school division to select textbooks from the VDOE-approved list to implement as a Core Curriculum for K-5 literacy. This implementation is required during the 2024-25 school year. LCS had a first-round review team with representation composed of literacy coaches, principals, and members of the Curriculum & Instruction team. The next round will be conducted at the school level with the top two publishers from the first round review. Reviewers will have access to online and physical materials and will use a VDOE rubric to individually score and send feedback by Feb. 28, 2024.
