Lynchburg City Schools will be holding a “Rachel’s Challenge” community event on Thursday, September 25, 2014. The event will be held at the Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation Auditorium located at 1200-1208 Polk Street. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Rachel's Challenge program is based on the writings and life of 17-year-old Rachel Scott who was the first student killed in the shootings at Columbine High School in 1999.
During the week of September 22nd, all LCS middle and high schools will be participating in assemblies highlighting the program and its mission to “inspire, equip and empower every person to create a permanent positive culture change in their school, business, and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.”
On the evening of Thursday, September 25th, students are encouraged to bring their parents, siblings, friends, or others to attend the community event. This event is best suited for children 6th grade and older due to some of the graphic news clips shown.
