Sandusky Elementary School won first place in the Sumdog Valley Region Math Contest held recently. Paul Munro and R. S. Payne elementary schools also competed, and the three LCS schools rounded out the top three finishers in the competition.
Sandusky finished the contest with 432 points, Paul Munro had 377, and R. S. Payne had 372. A total of seven schools in the region competed.
Overall school scores were the average number of correct answers out of the students in the school. At least 15 students from the school must have played in order to get an average score.
Also, LCS students accounted for seven of the top 10 individual scores. At least 336 students competed.
Since the program is online, the students can play it at home as well. At Sandusky Elementary School, this contest has students eager to work on math, and they are having a blast doing it. SES teachers have decided to continue with the program in a new national competition starting soon. "The classes that are participating in the contest are excited about math and loving every game they play," said SES counselor Amy Lokar.
