The E. C. Glass boys soccer team capped its successful season with two members earning state honors.
Forward Michael Kenny was named the AA Boys Player of the Year and Coach Randy Turille was named the AA Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.
"Congrats to Michael and Coach Turille as we are mighty proud of them and what the team accomplished this year!" said Glass Athletic Director Chip Berry.
In other E. C. Glass news, the Hilltoppers finished fourth out of 86 schools in the Wells Fargo Cup standings for the 2012-13 school year. The Cups are presented to the VHSL’s top athletic groups in AAA, AA and A. Points are awarded to schools based on performance at state championship events. E. C. Glass received 305 points for this year’s accomplishments, which included most recently state champions in boys tennis and state runners-up in boys soccer and girls outdoor track and field. Blacksburg was first in the Wells Fargo Cup standings with 350 points.
