A Heritage High School Task Force was created by City Council, with the full support of the Lynchburg City School Board. The steering committee for that task force identified five areas of study to be divided between respective subcommittees (educational plan, extra-curricular activities, facilities infrastructure, finances and community impact). Chairs for each subcommittee were selected and work began in late winter of 2011. On September 27, Task Force Chairman Michael Gillette along with Vice-Chairman Al Billingsly turned over their recommendations to the Lynchburg City School Board. Now, the school board will examine the findings of the task force and begin to formulate their plans for the future of Heritage High School.
