Lynchburg City Schools will open on a two-hour delay on Friday, Sept. 27 due to inclement weather. Since Sept. 27 is a Parent-Teacher Conference Day, conferences will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Students don’t attend school. Maintenance and custodial employees should report at the normal time.

Marching band performing on field

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Lynchburg Classic marching band competition, hosted by E. C. Glass and Heritage high schools. Come witness the time-honored tradition on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 12-7:30 p.m. at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Watch bands from 15 schools across the state compete before a panel of experienced judges. Plus, enjoy exhibition-only performances by E. C. Glass and Heritage high schools as well as a joint performance of the National Anthem by all LCS middle and high school bands.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for infants at the door. All proceeds from concession and ticket sales will help support the E. C. Glass and Heritage band programs.
