During the August 4, 2020 meeting, the Lynchburg City School Board approved the superintendent's recommendation to hire Ms. Amy Pugh as the LCS Deputy Superintendent.
Ms. Pugh has served as Director of Information Technology for LCS since 2018, where she has led a staff of 30 whose roles included instructional technology, support technology, and data processing. She also managed a $2 million department budget that was aimed at best serving the students and staff of Lynchburg City Schools through the use of technology. As a leader, Ms. Pugh's skills include strategic planning, communication, and instructional coaching.
Ms. Pugh understands the unique needs of the staff and students of Lynchburg City Schools. She has helped support and finalize the LCS-ONE plan that has provided individual devices to all secondary students. She and her team have worked diligently to support staff and families as they have been adjusting to remote learning. Her leadership, work ethic, and exceptional understanding for instructional technology make Ms. Pugh an excellent choice for the position of Deputy Superintendent.
Prior to her career in LCS, Ms. Pugh served as the Chief Information Technology Officer at Pewaukee School District for nine years. She has also served as an Instructional Specialist and elementary teacher for Lynchburg City Schools.
Ms. Pugh has a B.A. in Music Education and a MEd. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Lynchburg. She has a MEd. in Educational Computing from Cardinal Stritch University.
