Due to recent weather-related closings and delays, students will now attend school on Monday, March 2, 2026. This day was originally scheduled as a break day and designated as a potential make-up day. March 2 will now be a full instructional day for all students.
This change helps make sure Lynchburg City Schools meets required instructional hours outlined in the approved 2025-26 calendar. Families will be notified in advance if additional calendar changes become necessary.
To help limit future calendar changes, school administrators are also developing a remote learning plan to provide meaningful learning opportunities when schools must close. This would help preserve instructional time while minimizing disruptions to the school calendar. More information about remote learning will be shared at a later date.
Decisions to close or delay school are never made lightly. Our top priority is always the safety of our students and staff. We also recognize that every day of instruction matters. We understand the impact these changes have on family schedules, and we are committed to making the best possible choice based on the information available. For additional details about how weather-related decisions are made, please visit our Weather-Related Closings & Delays webpage.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to ensure our students receive the instructional time they need. You can view the updated LCS calendar here.
