Due to water damage and heating challenges at T. C. Miller and R. S. Payne elementary schools, students at those two sites have attended school remotely the week of January 3, 2023. LCS Facilities and Maintenance teams, along with other contracted service providers, have been working diligently to restore building heat and repair damages caused by freezing temperatures over Winter Break. Pending final repairs, we anticipate R. S. Payne Elementary students returning to the school in-person beginning Monday, January 9. However, work is still being done at T. C. Miller Elementary.

To provide the best in-person instructional opportunities for students, T. C. Miller students will need to temporarily attend school at a different site. Beginning Monday, January 9, 2023, all T. C. Miller students and staff will report to West Lynchburg Baptist Church located at 3031 Memorial Avenue. Classes will be held in classrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors of the building.

Transportation routes and times will remain the same, and pick-up and drop-off will now be located at West Lynchburg Baptist Church. School meals will continue to be provided, as normal, and the school can be reached at its regular phone number.

We appreciate all of the hard work and flexibility by LCS staff. We are also grateful for the partnership we have with West Lynchburg Baptist Church and their willingness to host our students and staff. Our goal is to reopen the T. C. Miller building later this month, and we will communicate any updates.

We thank our LCS families for their patience and understanding during this challenging time.
