Teachers are somebody!
They are as important as any person in the world.
They deserve to be treated with consideration and respect.
They have own their own ideals, dreams, hopes, fantasies, and their fears.
They continue to pursue happiness and success for all of their students.
Education is important to them and their students are important to them.
Teachers are Somebody.
Leverne Marshall, principal of W. M. Bass Elementary School

From Sheffield Elementary:
Day of the Teacher
Teaching is a Noble and Honorable Profession
Teachers  have the chance to leave
a thumbprint on a child's life.
Let that thumbprint be that you made a difference!
Let your goal as teachers be
to reach the unreachable child.
Make that your challenge!
Just one unreachable child!
Is there anything more noble or honorable
than making a difference in one child's life?
Teachers can and do make a difference!
—John Blaydes

On Teacher Appreciation Week, when the role of the teacher is recognized as a noble and honorable profession, it is important to remember how easily teachers affect the lives of our children.   Teachers meet that challenge each and every day in the classroom.  Their significant contributions to the lives of children are appreciated. Diane Swain, principal of Sheffield Elementary School

The teaching staff at HELP is dedicated and works to establish the relationship with families that set the stage for success in education for students with disabilities. The vision of the staff is clear and sets the standard for all we do.

Our vision states that we believe

  • All Children can learn;
  • Children deserve a team with a shared vision and commitment;
  • All children deserve to be included in their community neighborhood;
  • The early childhood educational experience is the foundation for lifelong learning;
  • Open honest regular communication is essential for supporting all involved;
  • A positive, secure, developmentally appropriate learning environment promotes optimal growth;
  • Parents are an integral part of their child's education.

—Judy Trent, director of the Hutcherson Early Learning Program

"T. C. Miller teachers are amazing. They find the best in all of our students and truly believe that every child here is gifted. I am so very lucky to be their principal." —Amy Huskin, Principal of Thomas C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation

"Where else can you drive past a school on a Saturday and see multiple teachers' cars in the parking lot and know they are in there putting in extra hours to prepare for Monday's lessons? What I appreciate most about the staff here at Bedford Hills is their commitment to the education of each and every child and the school as a whole. Whether it is taking a special interest in a child and acting as a mentor, doing home visits, giving up their planning time to tutor, volunteering after school or on the weekends or even just the endless hours they spend after work planning lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of each and every student, the staff here at Bedford Hills is willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of our students!" Robert S. Quel, principal of Bedford Hills Elementary School

"I was touched Friday by the pictures from the orphans in Africa. Later that night, I visited a local gallery displaying much of this art and other art created by Heritage High students. Also on display was the 2012 edition of Avant Garde, the HHS literary magazine, and the new children's book, An Acorn Adventure. This magazine and book were put together because teachers from different departments, Art and English, were willing to work together to give our students an experience that is beyond the classroom and one that is truly educational.” Dr. Mark L. Miear, principal of Heritage High School
