A Review of E. C. Glass and Heritage High Schools Winter Sports Success
The winter athletic season came to a close with a number of exciting highlights for the Hilltoppers’ and the Pioneers’ varsity teams. Here is a sample of their success at the district, regional, state, and national level.
Heritage High School
- Latrice Morris received All-American status after he placed third in the 60-meter dash for freshmen at the New Balance Indoor National Track Meet in New York City on March 10th; the top six individuals in each event receive All-American status.
- Dan Stephens was named Boys Basketball Regional Coach of the Year.
- Griffin Spencer and Maya Hamlett won the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
- The Boys Basketball team was Region Champions and reached the semifinals of the State Championships at VCU’s Siegel Center in Richmond.
E. C. Glass High School
- Rodney Smith was the Boys and Girls Regional Indoor Track Coach of the Year.
- Harrison Scharf was the District and Regional Track Athlete of the Year.
- Erica Jackson was the Female District and Regional Track Athlete of the Year.
- Matt Wallin was the District Wrestling Coach of the Year.
- Indoor Track Boys were District, Regional, and State Champions.
- Indoor Track Girls were District and Regional champions, and State Runners-up.
