Directions

From Lynchburg expressway, take Candler’s Mountain Road West. At intersection of Candler’s Mountain Road and Wards Road, turn right. Pass Kroger’s Shopping Center and bear right at light onto Fort Avenue. Turn left at third light onto Perrymont Avenue. School is .6 miles down Perrymont on the left.

Directions to Perrymont Elementary from Route 460 (coming from Roanoke)
When you reach the city limits of Lynchburg, there will be a number of exits. DO NOT TAKE the first four exits (Timberlake Road, Leesville, Airport to Greenview, Lynchburg to Danville) TAKE THE EXIT- 29 North Lynchburg. This will put you on 29N/Wards Road. Follow Wards Road about a mile. You will pass Walmart on the left and River Ridge Mall (Glass Ave.) on the right. Keep going straight. You will pass an Exxon station (Candlers Mt. Rd). At the second stoplight beside Walgreens, Wards Rd. becomes Fort Ave. Proceed through two more lights. Get in the left lane. Turn left onto Perrymont Ave. (sign will be above the street). Follow Perrymont Ave. about ½ mile. The school will be on the left.

Directions to Perrymont from Route 29 (coming from Danville)

Accreditation

The Lynchburg City School Division is accredited by the Virginia State Department of Education. Perrymont Elementary School is a partially accredited school as determined by the Standards of Learning criteria.

Staffing

Perrymont has a highly qualified staff in which all teachers are certified in their area of expertise. The staff consists of:

  • 25 Classroom Teachers: Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade
  • Resource Teachers and Education Professionals: Title 1, Art, Movement Education,. Music, Media Specialist, School Counselor, IT-DART, Teacher Assistants
  • Staff to accommodate students with special needs: Teachers, Teacher Assistants, OT, and PT

School History

Perrymont was built in 1954, with renovations and new wings added in 1956 and 1993 for a total of 51,975 square feet. The completely air-conditioned building is laid out on three floors. The Media Center was remodeled in 1998.
