Students at Bedford Hills Elementary School, Linkhorne Elementary School, Dunbar Middle School, and Sandusky Middle School won awards in the Lynchburg Water Resources (LWR) 2024 Imagine a Day Without Water K-12 Art Contest. Lynchburg and Campbell County public school, private school, and homeschooled students submitted artwork inspired by the contest prompt: “Tell us your action to protect the James River.”

Winners were honored for their unique creations, which raise awareness about the need for responsible stewardship of the city’s water resources. Their work will be displayed at various public venues throughout the year.

Starting Tuesday, Feb. 18, their artwork will be displayed at the Lynchburg Public Library for public viewing (2315 Memorial Ave, Lynchburg, VA 24501). On March 17, it will be moved to the College Hill Water Treatment Plant Water History Museum, where it can be viewed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays.

Student Category Winners received a $50 gift card, and Honorable Mentions received a signed certificate. Teacher Winners were selected at random and received a $100 gift card for classroom supplies. Congratulations to the students and teachers who were recognized for their creativity in this contest.
