Welcome back from the Bedford Hills Elementary School PTO!

Hello! My name is Amanda Rumore and I am president of the Bedford Hills PTO. On behalf of the entire PTO board, I welcome you back for the 2020-21 school year! I have a daughter in 1st grade and 3-year old twins/future Huskies. My family loves BHS for its wonderful and supportive staff and active family involvement. This school year might be starting off differently, but we still want to keep our families connected to the school and each other. We are actively planning some virtual community events and volunteer opportunities (keep reading!) and hope we will all be back together soon.

What is the Bedford Hills Elementary PTO?

The Bedford Hills Elementary School (BHS) PTO is a group of dedicated parents and friends who support BHS students, staff, and families. We raise funds to provide programs and services which enrich our school. These funds go towards efforts such as our free t-shirt program, annual teacher allowances for school supplies, and equipment for our brand-new gym. We encourage parents to be involved, support our school, and to volunteer when possible. We work closely with teachers and staff to ensure that our students have what they need to succeed. Here is a quick overview of our mission, members, and activities:

Welcome to BHS: Introduction to the PTO Presentation

Visitors are always welcome at the PTO Board meetings on the 1st Monday of each month. Meetings will be held virtually until further notice; our next meeting is September 14th due to Labor Day on the 7th. We are always looking for fresh faces and fresh ideas, so please see below for how you and your family can get involved!

What is the “Husky Howler”?

In order to cut down on email clutter, the Bedford Hills Elementary School PTO puts together a single, weekly email summary of PTO news, upcoming events, and general school announcements in what is known as the “Husky Howler.” The Howler is sent as an email every Monday throughout the school year. We encourage you to read it every week to keep on school happenings!

Where else can I find school updates?

We regularly post announcements and photos on our Facebook page and Instagram (@bedfordhillselementarypto) platforms. Please follow us there and feel free to tag us in your own school-related posts with #bhshuskiesathome

How can I get involved?

Husky families, even though we aren’t together in the building, there are still ways for you to help our teachers and students. Please fill out this form to say how you would like to be involved with our school. Even if you can't help with something right now, please at least fill it out with your name, your email address, and your child's information so we (as the PTO) can keep you informed.  https://forms.gle/mPbbc9JK3f825wPx6

SAVE THE DATE!

The PTO and BHS staff invite all BHS families to our first Community Connections event on Wednesday, September 9th at 7:00 p.m. (on Zoom). Teachers will be on hand to answer your remote-learning questions, we will utilize breakout rooms so you can meet other families at your child’s grade level, and it will be space for us to share our experiences of the first few weeks of remote-learning. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 9th!

Thank You Lunches

The PTO welcomed back our Bedford Hills teachers and staff on Monday 8/24 with individual boxed lunches prepared by DISH, owned by a former parent and longtime supporter of BHS. The PTO was happy to start the year off with a warm welcome and appreciated the gratitude expressed by teachers and staff.
