LCS had 16 student entries from secondary schools that competed with other secondary students across the state at the Virginia History Day state competition in April at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Three LCS entries placed in the state contest.
Alasia Oakes and Grace Serlis of Dunbar Middle School placed third in the Junior Group Documentary with their exhibit titled Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka.
Margaret Townsend of Linkhorne Middle placed second in the Junior Individual Exhibits, with Against All Odds: The Birth of the Nation Israel.
Kailyn Snyder and Landon Roberts of Dunbar Middle School placed second in the Junior Group Performance with their exhibit titled Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Rebuilding Japan after WWII.
Margaret, Kailyn and Landon qualify for the National History Day Competition in June, which will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park.
