We have some highlights to share with you from our Wednesday, November 3, 2021 Lynchburg City School Board Meeting.
Dominion 7 Architects presented an update of the Facilities Study. Dominion 7 will continue to finalize the facility condition assessment, education programming components, and develop recommendations with associated cost. You can view the Dominion 7 Architects PowerPoint presentation here.
Director LaTonya Brown provided the Board with an update on COVID-19 booster shots that will be made available for LCS employees and their qualifying family members. A free COVID-19 screening program will be available on a volunteer basis through Virginia School Screening Testing for Assurance (ViSSTA).
Director Ethel Reeves gave an overview of the first Community Conversation held on October 25, 2021. The Community Conversation focused on the topic of family engagement. Director Reeves and her department were able to receive valuable feedback from members of the community. The next Community Conversation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at St. John's Episcopal Church (205 Elmwood Avenue) at 6:00 p.m. The topic of discussion will be academic success.

There will be a virtual Legislative Advocacy Breakfast on Friday, November 5th, at 9:00 a.m. The Legislative Advocacy & Community Relations Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 9th, at 3:30 p.m. has been cancelled. The next School Board Work Session scheduled for Tuesday, November 16th, has been cancelled, as the board will be attending the VSBA Annual Convention in Williamsburg, VA, from November 16th to 19th. The next School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.
